Bloomington Public Library’s Memory Care Collection consists primarily of print books and DVDs aimed to support dementia patients, caregivers, and medical professionals throughout the varying stages of this life-altering disease. The collection includes informational resources for dementia patients, caregivers, and professionals; books for kids with family members suffering from dementia; biographies and memoirs; activity books; and reading materials for dementia patients.

Deposit Collections

Home Delivery Service
If you are a resident of Bloomington or the Golden Prairie Public Library District who cannot visit the Library in person, you are eligible for Home Delivery Service. For more information, view Home Delivery Service. h
Bookmobile
The Bookmobile visits 48 stops every three weeks in the City of Bloomington and the Golden Prairie Public Library District. The loan period for all items checked out from the Bookmobile is three weeks. Items found at the main Library may be put on hold by Bookmobile customers to be brought to and checked out from a Bookmobile stop.
Memory Care Kits
Now available for all patrons to check out with their library card, memory care kits give people the opportunity to recall moments from the past. Containing photographs, music, movies, and activities, these kits can help trigger memories and provide a bridge for caregivers and loved ones to communicate and connect. Kits can be placed on hold. Patrons can find available memory care kits on the 2nd floor of the library.
Themed around animals, this memory care kit includes an animal picture book, a DVD focused on goats, a jigsaw puzzle, aquapaint sheets with water paint brushes, dog themed photocards, a pop-it crab, and a plush sensory toy dog.
Themed around gardening, this memory care kit includes a DVD about flowers, a CD with songs for rest and relaxation, a jigsaw puzzle, a picture book of gardens, a metamorphosis flipbook, aquapain sheets with water paint brushes, a pop-it butterfly, and colored pencils with coloring sheets.
Themed around home, this memory care kit includes a DVD of favorite home items, a CD of greatest hits from the 50s, a jigsaw puzzle, a quilting picture book, aquapaint sheets with water paint brushes, homemaker themed photocards, and colored pencils with coloring sheets, and tangram blocks.
Themed around movies and music, this memory care kit include a collection of 5 Elvis based movies, 10 classic movies, a CD of Jukebox Favorite songs, a jigsaw puzzle, a music joke book, a book of music stars from the 1940s to the 1960s, and a Wizard of Oz flip book.
Themed around patriotism, this memory care kit includes a favorite patriotic things DVD, a CD of American Patriotic Military Songs, a jigsaw puzzle, an American Scenic Wonders book, a picture book of patriotic songs, patriotic themed photocards, and an I-Spy patriotic things rice grain busy bottle.
