Bloomington Public Library’s Drive-Up Lane is available to patrons who are on the go or who are unable to enter the library. Items put on hold in advance (see Hold Confirmations below) can be delivered to a patron’s parked car by Library staff. Before heading to the library, patrons should confirm the items they’ve put on hold are available. When placing library items on hold, designate your “Pickup Library” as “Drive-Up”. Two Drive-Up parking spaces are reserved in the west side parking lot and are noted with signs. Patrons using Drive-Up Service will park in these spaces and text the listed number on the sign to alert staff to retrieve and deliver the holds.
How it Works
Upon arrival, enter the parking lot from the South East Street entrance on the west side of the building, follow the painted parking lot arrow, then take a left, and pull into one of the 2 marked parking spaces designated as “Drive-Up Service”.
Once parked, the patron will text or call 309.310.5076 to notify staff of their arrival. The patron will provide staff with their name, the make of their car, and the color of their car. Staff will retrieve the patron’s items, check the items out to the patron’s account, and deliver the items to the patron’s vehicle.
The library will call, text, or email a patron when their requested items are ready to be picked up. Whether you receive a call, text, or email depends on your chosen notification preference.
