Program Description

This interactive simulation places participants in the shoes of a teen navigating an abusive relationship. Through a series of choices, participants experience the challenges of seeking help, staying safe, and coping with peer and adult responses.

Dating violence affects both teens and the adults who support them. In this program, teens gain tools to recognize unhealthy dynamics and make safer choices, while adults learn how to respond with understanding, guidance, and effective intervention.

The program concludes with a guided discussion about the impact of dating violence, healthy relationship strategies, and ways to support peers. The program will be led by representatives from the YMCA of McLean County's Stepping Stones program and is suggested for teens and adults age 14+ (due to content).

During the registration window for this program, registration can be completed online below, by calling 309.590.6168, or by visiting the Help Desk at the Library and registering in person.

Hearing Device Assistance

To accommodate hard-of-hearing patrons, the library offers the use of assistive listening devices in each Community Room and in each Children’s Program Room. For these devices to work, the presenter must use the room’s sound system. For the clearest sound, make sure the device is unobstructed by clothing or jewelry and sit in the first few rows.
If you experience connectivity issues, please let a staff member know. A guide on using the assistive listening devices is available.
