Listen to a "first-hand" account of the history of the United States of America during the time of Abraham Lincoln from a costumed actor who will portray Lincoln, himself. Attendees will learn about Lincoln's childhood on the frontier to the 12 turbulent years -- 1854 to 1865 -- which nearly destroyed our young nation but eventually resulted in a “new birth of freedom”.
Lincoln was one of that latter period’s greatest protagonists. Today, he is one of our nation’s most beloved and esteemed historical figures. "Lincoln" will quote from some of his best-known speeches and writings and talk about his own inspiring story of how he rose from a humble background to the highest office in the land through self-study, hard work, ambition, and a strong moral character.
Kevin Wood is a professional Lincoln presenter who bears a remarkable resemblance to “the Great Emancipator” and is extremely knowledgeable about his life and times. As Lincoln, Wood has made 1,200 appearances in 26 states, Washington, D.C., and two foreign countries: Canada and Spain.

Lincoln’s Festival Committee is pleased to present activities celebrating Abraham Lincoln and Route 66’s legacy in Bloomington-Normal.
On Saturday, July 17, join the McLean County Museum of History, Bloomington Public Library, David Davis Mansion, and the Prairie Chickens Base Ball Team of McLean County for a variety of programs (most of which are free) that will appeal to all ages.
