Program Description

University at War: ISNU during the Civil War

Join April Anderson-Zorn, Illinois State University's archivist, as she explores the history of the school and its involvement in the Civil War. Anderson-Zorn will discuss the formation of the Normal Rifles and highlight the life and legacy of Illinois State Normal University, as it was known at the time, along with ISNU’s first president, Charles Edward Hovey. Audience members will also see Hovey’s Civil War swords and other ISNU Civil War memorabilia.

Anderson-Zorn holds masters degrees in history and library science, maintains a Digital Archives Specialist certificate through the Society of American Archivists, and is a certified archivist.
