Age Group:
AdultProgram Description
As 3D printers become more prevalent and mainstream, many people are learning how to use them. Some crucial steps to the 3D-printing process include learning how to create 3D models, sourcing quality 3D-print files, and preparing files for printing. In this program, adults will be introduced to Tinkercad, an entry-level 3D modeling software which can be used to create custom designs. The basics of the software will be covered, and patrons will be led through a custom project that will be 3D printed for them to be picked up at a later date. Sourcing websites will be discussed along with best practices for downloading and uploading files.
At the end of the program, patrons will be taken into the library's Innovation Lab to review 3D-printer software and learn how to prepare files for printing. An small, active print will be started to allow patrons to see the printer in use.
During the registration window for this program, registration can be completed online below, by calling 309.590.6168, or by visiting the Help Desk on the library's second floor and registering in person.
