Program Description

Calling all houseplant fanatics! Bring your plants, cuttings and seeds to share, then take some new plants home. Introduce your plant to its new parent, and be ready to share information like its name and its light, soil, and water preferences.

Please note: Outdoor garden plants (dug up from a yard) are no longer accepted at BPL plant swaps due to the invasive jumping worm in McLean county. Houseplants and seeds only, please!

Please label plants before the swap to save yourself some time.

If you need help keeping your plants happy, swap tips with other plant parents and check out a plant care book or two while you're at the library.

The plant swap will coincide with a Kindness Rocks! Craft for Kids which requires registration. If you are bringing kids to the swap with you and you want to register them for the craft, please visit bit.ly/bplplantcraft

  • 2pm: Plants will be set out for viewing, and craft time begins.
  • 2:30pm: Swapping starts (Don’t be late; the swap goes fast and can be over in a matter of minutes!)
