Program Description

Author Presentation with Andrea Elliott -- 2022 Pulitzer Prize Winner for Nonfiction

Don't miss this rare opportunity to hear a newly-minted Pulitzer Prize winner speak about her work. Andrea Elliott's book, Invisible Child: Poverty Survival and Hope in an American City, is the 2022 winner for nonfiction. Invisible Child follows Dasani, a young girl living in poverty in Brooklyn, for eight years. Her family's history is interwoven into a riveting tale of her resilience while protecting and supporting her siblings. The book is also a window into the crisis of homelessness and the gap between those who have enough and those who do not.

Elliott is an investigative reporter for the New York Times.  Her writing has won an abundance of honors, capped by the recent Pulitzer nod. This program is hosted by the Highland Park Public Library and is being offered by libraries throughout Illinois.
