Teens will have the opportunity to explore different methods of making Zines as part of National Novel Writing Month.
Zines have been around since the 1930s and were originally called fanzines. They are small, informal, DIY publications which use a combination of creative material (including text, images, and/or art) to express just about anything, from ideas, views, fandom, short stories, and more. When teens are finished with the program, they will have produced a Zine to keep and/or distribute among friends and family. They will need a computer, about five pieces of blank paper, a stapler, and anything they prefer to draw with if they choose to create a non-digital Zine. Teens who use a computer to digitally create their Zines will have an option to print their Zines at the Library.
Registration opens at 9am on Monday, October 31, and can be completed online below, by calling 309.590.6168, or in person at the Adult Services Desk.
The program will take place virtually on Zoom. Those who register will receive a link to the program in their registration confirmation email.
