Teen Advisory Board

The Teen Advisory Board will meet at 6 p.m. in teenZone. All teens are invited to help be a part of teen library activities by joining the board. Whether it's playing games, talking about the Library, or having book discussions, there's always a new way to get involved.

Anime Now

Anime Now meets from 4-5:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. If you're a fan of Japanese animation or find yourself reading all the latest mange, you'll want to join us in the Community Room on the following Tuesday afternoons to watch and talk about anime.

FAFSA Workshop

On Tuesday, February 7,Kevin McKenzie of the Illinois Student Assistance Commission will lead an informational FAFSA presentation at 6 p.m. in the Community Room. He will discuss the Financial Aid Process and then assist those who would like help filling out the online FAFSA form. Come armed with questions and a laptop (or use one of ours).

Rebecca Caudill Brown Bag Lunch

Feb. 10th 12 PM TeenZone. You've read the books, now it's time to pick a winner! Choose your favorite book from the 2012 Rebecca Caudill Young Readers' Book Award, grab your lunch from home, and meet us in the teenZone for a lively debate.

Teen GameFest

Teen GameFest will take place every third Wednesday of the month from 4-5:30 p.m. Teens may join us for an afternoon of gaming. We'll set up lots of fun games in the Community Room complete with popcorn.

PNG Teen Tech Week

  • Computer Building Workshop
    Monday & Tuesday, March 5 & 6 @ 7 PM in the Community Room
    Teens! Have you ever wondered how computers are built? Sign up to participate in our Computer Building Workshop. Teens will work in teams to build desktop computers. Space is limited to 16 participants. To sign up, please contact Natalie LaRocque at nataliel@bloomingtonlibrary.org or 309-557-8949.
    *If a teen fails to attend the first session, their spot will be given to the next person on the waiting list. Funding for this grant was awarded by the Illinois State Library, a Department of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, under the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).

Hunger Games

Saturday, March 17th 2 PM Maxwell Park (Normal, IL). Teens! Come team up with both area public libraries as we create our own version of the Hunger Games. Be ready to run, fight, hide and answer HG trivia! *We will meet in the Community Room at the Normal Public Library if it rains. Check our website for updates!

Spare Parts

Teens: are you looking for a fun volunteer opportunity during Spring Break? Join us on Tuesday, March 27th at 2 PM in the Community Room for a fun new program. All teens will be paired with a kindergarten "buddy" and together you will build fun works of art out of recycled materials.

Teen Movie Matinee

On Thursday, March 29 join us for an afternoon movie complete with popcorn. We'll meet at 2 p.m. in the Community Room.

Anime Movie Marathon

If you're a fan of Japanese animation, join us for an all-day marathon of animated feature films. Join us for popcorn and fun activities on Saturday, March 31 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Minute to Win It!

Hosted by the Teen Advisory Board. On Monday, April 9 Gamers of all ages are invited to play a series of goofy games based on the popular TV show, Minute to Win It! We'll meet at 7 p.m. in the Community Room.

National Poetry Month Contest

Teens may enter our Poetry Month contest any time during the month of April. Any sort of original poem (as long as it is library appropriate) may be entered for a chance to win prizes. Teens can submit poems online to Natalie at nataliel@bloomingtonlibrary.org or at the Mission: Write section of the BPL website or create their own poem using our art materials in the teen-Zone. All poems must be submitted by April 30. Winners will be announced the week of May 1.
