Programs

The library offers many programs for all ages.

  • Programs in black are for adults.  
  • Programs in pink are for children.  
  • Programs in purple are for teens.
  • Programs in orange are for all ages.

Registration is generally not required, unless noted under the description. If registration is being taken, you can register online (if form is provided) or call the number listed under the description.

  • May 1
    • Nonfiction Book Club
      The Bloomington Public Library's nonfiction book club - Books and Bites
      - will meet at noon at the Lincoln Leisure Center to discuss Mayflower:
      A Story of Courage, Community and War by Nathaniel Philbrick.
  • May 2
    • Today is the final day to submit a film for the BNFilmfest.
      The BNFilmFest is an annual event created to give local filmmakers of
      all ages, groups and experience levels an outlet for their creativity. Anyone living in
      McLean County and the surrounding area was given an opportunity to submit a film.
  • May 7
    • Grow Your Digital Photography Skills
      Don Chamberlain of Mindmeld Photography will introduce basic digital
      technologies such as white balance, image recording options and
      achieving better focus. This 45-minute presentation will include time
      for a question-and-answer session. Just minutes from Bloomington, this
      presentation will take place at 7 p.m. in Old Town Township Hall off
      Towanda/Barnes Road.

    • Afternoon Movie Series
      A movie will be shown at 1:30 p.m. in the library's Community Room.
  • May 10
    • Hoppin' Family Storytime
      Participants will meet at 11 a.m. in the Bloomington Public Library
      Story Room. Children of all ages will enjoy stories, songs and finger
      plays. This program is for children and their parents or adult
      caregiver.
  • May 13
    • BNFilmfest
      Showing of locally-created films begins tonight at the Normal Theater.
      Tonight's viewing will include submissions made by the area's youth. The
      fun will last from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

      McLean County and the surrounding area was given an opportunity to submit a film.

    • Mystery Book Club
      Under the Magnifying Glass, the Bloomington Public Library's mystery
      book club, will meet at 7 p.m. in the Bloomington Public Library
      Community Room. The Murder of Roger Ackoryd by Agatha Christie will be
      discussed.
  • May 14
    • BNFilmfest
      Showing of locally-created films continues tonight at the Normal
      Theater. Tonight's viewing includes the area's Indie submissions. The
      fun will last from 7 to 10 p.m. A $5 donation is suggested at the door.

    • Eastland Mall Story Time
      Fun will be had by all when kids of all ages meet at 10 a.m. on the
      carpeted area in front of Mrs. Fields Cookies at Eastland Mall for
      Eastland Mall Storytime. Come enjoy stories read by children's
      librarians from Bloomington Public Library.

    • Stamp Collecting with Mr. Stamps
      School-aged children interested in stamp collecting are invited to
      attend and learn more about this fascinating hobby from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
      in the Bloomington Public Library Story Room.
  • May 19
    • Grow the Conversation: The Future of Food
      A panel discussion - Grow the Conversation: The Future of Food - will
      take place at 7 p.m. in the Community Room. Join us as we discuss the
      sustainability of agriculture - the ability of a farm to produce food
      indefinitely, without causing irreversible damage to ecosystem health.
      Topics will include locally-grown produce/farmers' markets, organic
      farming, genetically modified organisms and industrial agriculture.
      Segments from recent documentary films will be shown to help guide the
      discussion. This will be an open dialogue, so bring your questions.
  • May 20
    • Fiction Book Club
      The Bloomington Public Library's fiction book club - Bloomington Bookies
      - will meet at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln Leisure Center to discuss Nineteen
      Minutes by Jodi Picoult. Dessert and beverages will be provided. Books
      are available at the library's reference desk.

    • Afternoon Movie Series
      A movie will be shown at 1:30 p.m. in the library's Community Room.

    the library will be closed for Memorial Day.

      A movie will be shown at 1:30 p.m. in the library's Community Room.
