  • Programs
  • Adult DIY Series

    These programs are designed for those age 17 and over. All supplies are provided. Registration is required and opens at 10:00 on the listed date. Each program is limited to 10 people. A waiting list will be created if necessary. To register, call 309-261-3935, the only number at which registrations will be taken. Leave a message with the names and phone numbers of the people registering. There is no online or in-person registration for these programs. Stay tuned for future programs requiring registration and be sure to check our events calendar for other programs!

    • Kokedama (Japanese Moss Garden Ball) -- February 27 at 6:30pm or February 28 at 10am

      Try a low-water planting technique that's becoming more common in the states. Registration starts Monday, February 13th at 10:00 am. Each class is limited to 10 people. A waitlist will be created if needed. To register, call 309-261-3935, the only number at which registrations will be taken.

    • Etched Wine Glass -- March 20 at 6:30pm

      We will etch wine glasses, picture frames, and other glass pieces with vinyl stencils. Registration opens March 6 (no Tuesday session for this one). Each class is limited to 10 people.     • Paint Marbled Fabric and Paper -- April 24 at 6:30pm or April 25 at 10am

      Decorate your own unique fabric and paper. Registration starts Monday, April 10th at 10:00 am. Each class is limited to 10 people. A waitlist will be created if needed. To register, call 309-261-3935, the only number at which registrations will be taken.

    • Hypertufa Clay Planters -- May 22 at 6:30pm or May 23 at 10am

      Create a colorful plant holder. Registration starts Monday, May 8th at 10:00 am. Each class is limited to 10 people. A waitlist will be created if needed. To register, call 309-261-3935, the only number at which registrations will be taken.

  • Other Adult Programs

    If registration is required for adult programs, register for each class separately, with up to 15 participants. Register by calling the Reference Desk at 309-828-6093, online at the library's website, or in person. A waitlist will be created if each program becomes full. The classes are in the Community Room unless noted otherwise.

    • Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes -- April 5, 6:00pm

      Using the Library's HTC Vive virtual reality equipment, one player will be trapped in a virtual room with a ticking time bomb they must defuse. The other players are the "experts" who must give the instructions to defuse the bomb by deciphering the information found in a bomb defusal manual. But there's a catch: the experts can't see the bomb, so everyone will need to talk it out – fast! For adults age 17 and older. Registration begins Monday, March 20 at 10:00am.   • Getting Started with Computers

    This series of four classes is designed to teach basic computer literacy. Participants are encouraged to attend all four classes, but this is not required. Registration is required and starts Monday, February 27th at 10:00am. Register for each class separately, with each limited to 10 people. Register by calling the Reference Desk at 309-828-6093, online at the library's website, or in person. A waitlist will be created if each program becomes full. The classes are in the Community Room at 3pm unless noted otherwise.

    • Basics for the Beginner -- March 7, 3:00pm

      Learn how to hold the mouse and navigate the computer's operating system. Registration begins Monday, February 27 at 10:00am. Class is limited to 10 people. A waitlist will be created if needed. Register in person, by pho ne at (309) 828-6093, or fill out the online registration form below.

    • Simple Tasks -- March 14, 3:00pm

      Review the computer's operating system, learn more about what kinds of programs are available, and learn the basics of typing with the keyboard.     • Internet Searching -- March 21, 3:00pm

      Learn about the internet, discuss different web browsers, and discover how to search for information online. Registration begins Monday, February 27th at 10:00am. Class is limited to 10 people.       Learn how to stay connected online. We will quickly review social media sites like Facebook, as well as setting up and maintaining email accounts.     • Zoetropes -- March 16, 6:30pm

      Get lo-tech and build your own wheel of illusion! It's like making a movie, only much, much shorter. As part of the Tinker Lab Series, let's work together and create them. Registration begins Monday, February 13th at 10:00am. Zeotropes is limited to 20 participants, grades 3-5 only. A waitlist will be created if needed.     • Chemical Reactions -- April 20, 6:30pm

      Will the color change? The consistency? Will something erupt?! Let's use the scientific method and find out using basic (and safe) chemicals! As part of the Tinker Lab Series, let's work together and find out. Registration begins Monday, March 13th at 10:00am. Chemical Reactions is limited to 20 participants, grades 3-5 only.   • Teen Programs

    These awesome Teen Programs need registration. If you want to participate, please check the date/time of the program to make sure you are available to attend. Click the blue arrow of the program you want and then on the "click here to register" button. It will ask you for your name, age/grade, and contact information. (Make sure your contact information is an email you check regularly or a phone you use because we will either email you or phone you with reminders about the program.)

    And be sure to check our program guide for other teen programs that don't need registration.

    • Minecraft Survival Game (Community Room) -- March 8, 6:30-8pm

      To celebrate Teen Tech Week, come show your skills at Minecraft. Sign up with a partner and join us in the Community Room at 6:30pm for an epic survival game that will declare who is the Minecraft Champion of the Bloomington Public Library. Open to Teens, grades 6-12. Registration required. Registration begins Monday, February 13th at 10:00am. A waitlist will be created if needed.
