Position: Technology Volunteer

Are you knowledgeable about computers? Like helping people learn? Want to help increase the technology literacy of your community? The Bloomington Public Library is looking for a library technology volunteer to supplement our technology assistance. This volunteer will be responsible for aiding the library's customers on our public computers.

Duties of the Technology Volunteer include:

  • Helping library customers set up email accounts
  • Helping customers understand online job applications
  • Directing customers to appropriate online tutorials (for how to use the mouse, or keyboarding sites)
  • General technology questions (how to save files, transfer to jump drive, print, change formats, etc)
  • Help customers indirectly by creating content for our website that could include video tutorials, interactive tutorials, and short instructions on various databases and services offered by the library
  • Other duties as assigned

Volunteers must have intermediate computer skills (must be able (but not limited) to surf the internet, use email, create documents with Microsoft office products, use social media, and have basic troubleshooting capabilities).
