The Children's Services Department offers picture books, chapter books, nonfiction books, children's magazines, audiobooks, DVDs, music CDs, books in languages other than English, and more. Your library card allows you to have up to 50 items checked out. When checking out materials on high-demand, seasonal topics, please be considerate to others and limit yourself to 5 items per topic.
Any teacher with a valid library card can:
- Call the Children's Department at 309-828-6094 with a list of books or topics, and the librarians will select the requested materials. Please plan ahead and request your materials at least 3 days before you need them.
- Fill out the form below to request that our librarians select books pertaining to your topics. Again, please request your materials at least 3 days before you need them.
- Visit in person to ask for assistance in locating your materials.
- Bring your class to the library. The children can select their own books and check them out on their individual cards or on the teacher's card. Please keep in mind that you are responsible for anything checked out on your card.
We welcome classes to our Children's Department. During these visits, librarians can give a tour, provide instruction in using library services, and/or include a story time or book talk. Please call Children's Services Manager, Melissa Robinson, at least one month in advance, at 309-557-8960 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
