Move and Learn

Kids of all ages will enjoy stories and songs about pets at 6:30pm in the Bloomington Library Children’ Department. A parent or caregiver needs to accompany children to these programs.

Wednesday, May, 23

Grow Together! Story Time at Sunnyside Gardens

Kids age 3-5 years are invited to join us at Sunnyside for an outdoor story time from 10:30-11:30am! We’ll read books and sing songs for about 30 minutes before enjoying some hands-on gardening fun. Dress for a mess.

Sensory Story Time

Sensory Story Time invites children of all ages and abilities to engage their senses with specialized stories, music, and activities at 2pm.  Each session will include sensory play and socialization for children with autism or other special needs.

Summer Reading Begins

Summer Reading begins at Bloomington Public Library. Pick up a reading at the library, on the Bookmobile, or print it from home. Then start reading for your chance to win prizes!

Tales for Tails

Tales for Tails pairs trained and certified therapy dogs with children in Grades K-5 who want practice reading aloud. If interested, come to the Children’s Desk at 6pm to be assigned to a 10-minute session a dog.

Reading Takes You Everywhere: Summer Reading Kick-Off Party

Start the summer off right with a variety of book-based activities throughout Bloomington Library from 10am-12 noon. We’ll have crafts, music, storytelling from Mike Lockett and the Twin City Tale Spinners, and more!

Free Lunch - New this Summer! Courtesy of District 87, free lunch will be served from 11:30am-12:30pm on weekdays through August 10. Free lunch is available at the library to anyone under age 18. Those age 18+ who would like a lunch will pay $3 per meal.

Smarty Pants Story Time

This story time is for children of all ages. Join us for fun and games in the Community Room on Tuesdays at 10am. We’ll share favorite stories and songs followed by a quick activity.

Little Explorers

Little ones, age newborn to 18 months, will explore educational and manipulative items, hear stories, and sing songs. Bring a blanket and wear comfy clothing to this 6:30pm story time in the Story Room.

Lego Construction Time

Children ages 5-11 can drop into the Story Room from 1-3pm to explore their inner builder. Taking pictures is encouraged as projects will not go home with children. Duplo blocks will be available for younger builders in the preschool area.
