Story Times at the Library

  • Halloween Story Time

  • Toddler Time is an interactive story time

Raise your child to be a reader by bringing them to story time at Bloomington Library! Story times are designed to be an exciting learning experience that foster the development of your child's early literacy skills and promote a lifelong love of learning and reading. Story times are a wonderful opportunity for children to enjoy books and group activities in a fun and safe environment.

We offer a wide array of story time experiences for children of all ages. Programs include stories, finger plays, music and movement activities, simple instruments, rhymes, puppets, creative dramatics, and much more!

Choose from the following story time options:

Singing, Swinging Story Time

A story time perfect for the entire family! Children of all ages will enjoy an extravaganza of stories, fingerplays, laughs, and songs accompanied by guitar! A parent or caregiver needs to accompany children to this program in the Children's Department. A parent or caregiver needs to accompany children. Ready, Set, Read! Story Time

During this story time for kids of all ages we'll share favorite stories and songs followed by a quick activity. This 10am Community Room story time provides great fun for the entire family. Teddy Bear Games

Bring your Teddy Bear (or another favorite stuffed animal) to the Library for some fun songs and games at 6:30pm in the Story Room. (For groups of toddlers, please make arrangements by contacting Melissa Waltrip by phone at 557.8960 or email at melissaw@bloomigtonlibrary.org).

Little Owl's Story Time

Hoot, Hoot, Hoo-ray! Caregivers soar as your little "owlets" spread their wings at the Library. Together we will glide into rhymes, ruffle our feathers while dancing, hoot for joy while singing, and nestle together with a good book. Be wise and bring items that might comfort your "owlet." Reading to your "owlet" builds the warmest nest. This program is intended as one-on-one time for our youngest Library users, infants up to 18 months, and their caregivers. Please make arrangements for older siblings. This program is offered at 6:30pm in the Story Room.
