Tales for Tails

Love dogs? Want extra reading practice? Join us for Tales for Tails!

Tales for Tails is a literacy program that pairs trained and certified therapy dogs with children who are uncomfortable or want practice reading aloud, struggling readers, or English-as-a-second-language learners. The attentive ears of a canine listener can both soothe nervous readers and excite those who might be bored. Tales for Tails and other similar reading programs help kids to build confidence in their literacy skills, gain practice reading aloud, and create a fun environment for reading! If your child is in grades kindergarten-5th and is interested in this program, come to the Bloomington Library Children's Room on the night of the program. Upon arrival, children will be assigned to a 10-minute session with one of the dogs. Bring a favorite book to read or pick one out at the library. No registration; space will be limited. See our Programs page for upcoming Tales for Tails dates.
