The closure will allow us to begin to bring back and shelve 3,500 boxes of books which were moved to storage when our construction project began. Additional closures will be necessary and will be announced as details develop. Some collections may not be available until the move is complete.

This program is part of Bloomington Reads, a community reading program series which encourages people to read and talk about the same book or, in 2024, the same topic.

Musician Lee Murdock performs a boundless body of music and stories from the Great Lakes and Illinois waterways. From the Eastland Disaster on the Chicago River to lighthouse legends of the Great Lakes, Lee’s songs and stories share the tragedy and the heroics, captivating listeners of all ages!
A fluent instrumentalist on the 6- and 12-string guitars, Murdock combines ragtime, Irish, blues, and folk styles with his flair for storytelling in songs. His musical influences span 15 generations. Murdock began his folk career in the Chicago area in the mid 1970’s, expanding into blues and popular music as his interest in folk music and the maritime tradition grew.
With a deep understanding of the folk process, Lee combines historical research and contemporary insights. His work is both documentary and a contemporary anthem to the people who live, work, and play along the water today.
Registration is required for those who wish to attend virtually via Zoom and can be completed online below, by calling 309.590.6168, or by visiting the Help Desk on the Library's 2nd floor. Those attending in person do not need to register.
